Listed below are some of the actions you can take if you want to make your voice heard.
Letter and Email
In some of our campaign sections we will include correspondence to the Area Planning Officers from the Society. However, when writing to the Department please use your own words as formulaic letters carry less weight. Remember to be concise and always polite. It could help if you cc your letter to UAHS. It shows the Department that we too know about it. See Take Action on Planning for more ideas.
Objections and Comments
Have a look at this template letter of objection which sets out what sources you need to refer to when responding to applications which involve the demolition of listed buildings and unlisted buildings of merit in conservation areas.
Details of the planning system and the stages of the planning process can be found on the DoE website.
NB: There are major changes afoot as part of planning reform, the key one being that planning powers will return to local authorities in April 2015, when 26 councils will reduce to 11. A number of good resources, including the guide by Community Places, provide a short synopsis of the way ahead.
